Skiing in British Columbia — FAQ
- Where is the famous BC powder?
- The Kootenay and Selkirk ranges in BC's interior — Revelstoke, Whitewater, Red Mountain, Kicking Horse, Fernie — get cold, deep, dry snow. Whistler Blackcomb at the coast gets more snow by volume but it's heavier.
- Is Whistler Blackcomb worth the hype?
- Yes — biggest lift-served vertical in North America (1,609 m / 5,280 ft), the most skiable terrain (8,171 acres), and a dual-mountain peak-to-peak gondola. Crowded but justifiably popular.
- When does BC skiing peak?
- Mid-January through mid-March for the interior; the coast (Whistler) is good December through April. Storm cycles are reliable from mid-November onwards.
