Pacific Northwest Ski Resorts
The Pacific Northwest catches the wettest Pacific storms in North America — Mt. Baker, Stevens Pass, Crystal Mountain, Mt. Bachelor, Whistler Blackcomb just over the Canadian line, and a long string of locally-loved resorts. Volcano peaks, deep coastal snow, and rainforest setting.

Skiing in Pacific Northwest — FAQ
- What's the snowiest resort in the lower 48?
- Mt. Baker in Washington holds the world record for a single winter (1,140 inches, 1998–99 season). It still averages more annual snowfall than any other ski area in the lower 48.
- When is the Pacific Northwest ski season?
- November through April or May for the higher resorts. The wettest months (December–February) deliver enormous snow but also socked-in conditions. Late February through April often has the best combination of base + visibility.
- How heavy is the snow?
- Pacific Northwest snow is famously dense — 12–18% water content vs. Utah's 8–10%. Great for stability, less great for face shots. Bring fat skis.
