Pacific Northwest Ski Resorts

The Pacific Northwest catches the wettest Pacific storms in North America — Mt. Baker, Stevens Pass, Crystal Mountain, Mt. Bachelor, Whistler Blackcomb just over the Canadian line, and a long string of locally-loved resorts. Volcano peaks, deep coastal snow, and rainforest setting.

Skiing in Pacific Northwest — FAQ

What's the snowiest resort in the lower 48?
Mt. Baker in Washington holds the world record for a single winter (1,140 inches, 1998–99 season). It still averages more annual snowfall than any other ski area in the lower 48.
When is the Pacific Northwest ski season?
November through April or May for the higher resorts. The wettest months (December–February) deliver enormous snow but also socked-in conditions. Late February through April often has the best combination of base + visibility.
How heavy is the snow?
Pacific Northwest snow is famously dense — 12–18% water content vs. Utah's 8–10%. Great for stability, less great for face shots. Bring fat skis.
