The Pyrenees Ski Resorts

The Pyrenees stretch ~430 km across the Spain–France border, with Andorra at the high point. Resorts here are smaller and more affordable than the Alps but get reliable snow and long sunshine hours. SnowSure tracks the major Spanish, Andorran, and French Pyrenean resorts side-by-side.

Skiing in The Pyrenees — FAQ

Are the Pyrenees good for skiing?
Yes — the high Pyrenees regularly get deep snow from Atlantic and Mediterranean storms, and the resorts (Baqueira-Beret, Grandvalira, Saint-Lary-Soulan, Cauterets, etc.) offer excellent terrain at prices well below the Alps.
What's the difference between the Spanish and French Pyrenees?
The French side (Cauterets, Saint-Lary, Peyragudes) tends to get more snow from Atlantic systems. The Spanish side (Baqueira-Beret, Formigal, Cerler) is sunnier and often less crowded. Andorra sits in the middle, with the largest network — Grandvalira and Vallnord.
When is the Pyrenees ski season?
Roughly late November / early December through mid-April, similar to the Alps. The highest resorts (Grandvalira, Baqueira) can open earlier and close later.
