Utah Ski Resorts
Utah's "Greatest Snow on Earth" tagline is backed by the Wasatch lake-effect: cold storms drop dry powder a 30-minute drive from Salt Lake City. SnowSure tracks Alta, Snowbird, Park City, Deer Valley, Brighton, Solitude, and the rest of the Wasatch / Powder Mountain belt in real time.

Skiing in Utah — FAQ
- Why is Utah snow so famous?
- The Great Salt Lake adds moisture to dry Pacific storms as they cross northern Utah. The result is exceptionally light, cold powder — typical density 8–10% water content vs. 12–15% in coastal ranges.
- Alta or Snowbird?
- Both share Little Cottonwood Canyon and average ~500 inches per season. Alta is skier-only, more traditional; Snowbird is bigger and accepts snowboarders. The AltaBird lift pass covers both.
- When is the Utah ski season?
- Mid-November through April for most Wasatch resorts. January and February are the powder peak; March and early April get the most sunshine without losing the snow.
