The Andes Ski Resorts
The Andes deliver the Southern Hemisphere's biggest ski season — June through October — with reliable cold and steep volcanic terrain in Chile and Argentina. Portillo, Valle Nevado, Cerro Catedral, Las Leñas, and Corralco anchor the region; ideal for off-season turns when the Northern Hemisphere is in summer.

Skiing in The Andes — FAQ
- When is the Andes ski season?
- June through early October. Peak snow conditions are typically late July through August (the Southern Hemisphere winter equivalent of January–February).
- Chile or Argentina?
- Chilean resorts (Portillo, Valle Nevado, Corralco) tend to have more reliable snow and steeper terrain. Argentine resorts (Cerro Catedral, Las Leñas, Chapelco) offer larger terrain networks and lower prices. Both sides see big Pacific-origin storms.
- How does Andean skiing compare to the Alps?
- It's the off-season alternative to Northern Hemisphere skiing. Resorts are smaller and lift networks less developed than the Alps, but terrain is steep and the snow is reliable through August.
